Another Chapter begins …

September 1, 2015

Two things happened today.

First, I permanently retired from the workforce after 54 years.

Second, I officially became a Septuagenarian. That is hard (for me) to believe, but I do not consider this ‘getting older’. I prefer to think of it as ‘living longer’.

At some point, you stop being embarrassed by your age and you start taking pride in it. When I think of all the people I have known who never made it to 60, much less 70 … well you get the point.

One of the things I wanted to do upon retirement was to do some travelling around the United States. That is why I created this blog. If I sent you a link, or if you just stumbled on the site while surfing the net, you are welcome to travel with me.

I invite your comments and suggestions as we travel.

My first trip will be towards the end of September. Please check back at that time.

  1. Happy Birthday Uncle Joe! Congratulations on the retirement! Though, I’m skeptical this one will stick any better than the last one. Look forward to seeing you in October!

    Joanna Gates forever!

P.S..I’m still not happy with the Tucson Jack in the Box!

  2. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Uncle Joe! I am already looking forward to my own retirement, so I’m incredibly jealous. Hope you have a great day and let me know if you’re headed anywhere near Idaho- I’d be more than happy to show you the sights!

    1. Hello Katy. I am sure that, sooner or later, I will get to Idaho. Many years ago, when I was in the Air Force, I spent several weeks at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho getting some training.

I don’t know how far Mountain Home is from you, but I do remember the scenery was awesome.

  3. Congrats on the milestone B’day and yer well earned unemployment status!! What’s the first travel destination you’ve targeted for invasion??

    1. I am taking your advice and ‘chilling’ for a few weeks. Then I am going to invade Dallas, Texas for the Texas State Fair that I have always wanted to see.
