Texas State Fair or Bust

September 28, 2015 – 8:00A

The time has come for my first post-retirement road trip. This will be a short trip to Dallas, Texas and the Texas State Fair. From start to finish, I expect it to be a five or six day trip, depending on how it goes.

In actuality, it is a ‘test’ run. I want to see if I find any chances for adventure along the way, how I like sleeping in the car and if I can stay connected on the road via Wi-Fi. I am bringing my laptop so I can update this blog as I travel.

What happens from now on will depend to a large degree on what happens on this first trip.

My car is packed. The gas tank is full. The weather appears to be a non-issue and I am off!

See you on down the road.

Another Chapter begins …

September 1, 2015

Two things happened today.

First, I permanently retired from the workforce after 54 years.

Second, I officially became a Septuagenarian. That is hard (for me) to believe, but I do not consider this ‘getting older’. I prefer to think of it as ‘living longer’.

At some point, you stop being embarrassed by your age and you start taking pride in it. When I think of all the people I have known who never made it to 60, much less 70 … well you get the point.

One of the things I wanted to do upon retirement was to do some travelling around the United States. That is why I created this blog. If I sent you a link, or if you just stumbled on the site while surfing the net, you are welcome to travel with me.

I invite your comments and suggestions as we travel.

My first trip will be towards the end of September. Please check back at that time.
